Youth Summer Program Needs YOU:

Enrich the Summer Camp Experience for Underserved Youth

For 80 youth participants, our Kinship Summer Enrichment Program means that these young people will remain academically and physically engaged during the summer break from school. While the main focus is on academic support in the areas of reading, math and geography, the program is also designed to expand the horizons of youth whose life experiences are normally limited to their own inner city neighborhoods. Educational field trips and extensive recreational opportunities are part of the curriculum, and include a week of activities with the East Bay Regional Park District’s Park’in It program as well as trips to experiential destinations like the California Academy of Sciences, Silliman Aquatic Center, and Great America.

Our five-week summer program is partially funded by Oakland Fund for Children and Youth, Casey Family Programs and Alameda County Social Services Agency. Funding from these generous sources allows us to provide staff and basic day-to-day supplies for our youth, however due to significant budget cuts, FSSBA must seek matching funds to provide off-site summer enrichment experiences. Without additional funding, our summer program will be severely limited, and we will be forced to cut nearly every educational field trip.

We are seeking sponsors like you to supplement funding for this important program.  

Sponsorship Levels for this Summer Program:  

• Sponsor a Single Youth: Your $375 contribution will cover the costs of one youth participant in our Summer Youth Program for the entire five week experience. If each of our 80 youth participants is sponsored, the summer program will be able to include the complete list of proposed educational field trips to destinations like: The California Academy of Sciences, Silliman Aquatic Center, and Great America.

• Sponsor a Day of Camp: Your $1,200 contribution will mean that our 80 youth participants will have one full day of exceptional experiences, including an educational field trip, healthy meals and snacks, and exposure to some of the wonderful activities that the Bay Area has to offer.

• Sponsor a Week of Camp: Your $6,000 sponsorship will cover the cost of all 80 of our youth for a full week of enhanced summer camp activities, including educational field trips, healthy meals and snacks and even greater opportunities to explore the San Francisco Bay Area region.

• Sponsor part of our camp wishlist: Your in-kind donation of items from our program’s wishlist will help to ensure that our youth have quality equipment for their summer experiences, and will help us to stretch our limited budget as efficiently as possible.
